CHARTER FAIR

Yes, we are almost there - The Haslemere Charter Fair will be open from 1pm to 5pm on Monday 5th May 2014.

The High Street and West Street will be closed to traffic and the entire area turned into an Area. There will be many things to do, rides to enjoy and lots of stalls of all offering you a wide range of products and services.

For a quick glance of the sort of thing you can expect, have a look at the Whats On page.

There is a free Courtesy Bus which follows a route from Shottermill (the bus stop outside the Working Man's Club) direct to the Fair. The 1st bus runs from 12:00pm to 5:00pm and a 2nd bus runs 1:00pm to 6:00pm.

In 1393 Richard II and the Bishop of Salisbury confirmed an Order dated 29th April 1221 allowing a weekly market and an annual fair to be held in the town. Although the weekly markets were already established the first Fair was reported to be held 1394.

The Charter Fair is organized by a group of volunteers from Haslemere and surrounding villages and has been running every 2 years since it was reinstated in 1984.

There is no entrance fee for visitors.
