Fernhurst Society AGM followed by Illustrated Talk on the Commonwealth War Graves Commission

The Fernhurst Society is delighted to welcome Admiral Sir Ian Garnett as its speaker. 100 years after the end of World War 1, Sir Ian is speaking on the Commonwealth War Graves Commission of which he was both a commissioner and the vice chairman. His duties took him to the wartime graveyards across Europe and Britain where he was able to see the wonderful work that is still carried on. His knowledge of the programme's initiation and continuation is complemented by very moving slides. Many people will find that there are CWGC graves in their own local cemetery or burial ground which are still looked after. Fernhurst has 7 of these graves. The meeting opens with refreshments. At 7.30 pm the Society holds its brief AGM and Sir Ian's talk follows, allowing time for questions. All are welcome to the open meeting. It is best to park in the village car park, behind the shops, and walk through. Any queries, please email the society on chairman@fernhurstsociety.org.uk.
