Surrey Contemporaries - Autumn Art ExhibitionThis group of locally-based artists enjoy painting and exhibiting their work together. Working mainly in acrylics and oils, but with the odd watercolour thrown in, their work is varied and covers a wide range of subjects including landscapes, seascapes, animal art, portraiture and abstract art - most with a slightly contemporary twist.

Fernhurst Films present: The Kid who would be KingThe new film from director Joe Cornish is a fast, funny, fantasy adventure based on the tales of Arthurian legend but with a clever twist - an idea that first popped into the filmmaker’s head when he was 13. Joe Cornish has created a humdinger of a children’s adventure that somehow manages to be both touchingly nostalgic and bitingly up-to-date. The Kid Who Would Be King is a delightful and entertaining treat for children, parents and grandparents as well. Duration 2 hrs. Rated PG. Tickets are available 2 weeks in advance from the Fernhurst Newsagents or on the door on the night. In aid of Friends of Fernhurst School.

Fernhurst Films present: Not here to be LovedA French film of unlikely love is an unlikely charmer. The story is clichéd, cinematically - a stuffy, middle-aged man, bowed down by his job as a bailiff, who finds a new lease of life when he enrols in a tango dance class and meets a good-looking girl about to drift into marriage. A French gem of a film. Duration 90 mins. Rated PG (English subtitles). Tickets are available 2 weeks in advance from the Fernhurst Newsagents or on the door on the night. Licensed bar with wines, beers and soft drinks available from 7.00 pm, along with cafetiere coffee/tea and complimentary brownie. Criterion Ices on sale in the interval.
