Major Recent Achievements - some examples:
- The Society has re-introduced its Blue Plaque scheme. See separate pages for details.
- The Georgian Hotel was saved from redevelopment and conversion into flats in 1999. Through much effort, including a public campaign initiated and organised by the Society, the Georgian House Hotel came into being. In order to achieve this hugely gratifying success for the vitality of Haslemere, the Society employed professional advisers at a cost of nearly £4,000. This sum was met from Haslemere Society reserves.
- Extension of the town's conservation areas in 2005 was achieved by working closely with Waverley Borough Council. This helped to save a fine large Arts and Crafts house from demolition.
- Transformation of Clement Corner. In 2002 the society designed and project-managed the transformation of this previously neglected area, and found sponsors to pay for the work.
- The restoration of Town Well and the creation of Swan Barn Walk were achieved by working with the National Trust and Waverley Borough Council.
- The Society contributed to and supported local initiatives, such as the contribution towards the Rotary Club Centenary log seat, positioned and unveiled on Lion Green in 2005.
- It also contributed towards the cost of the beautifully vibrant stained glass window, depicting the Haslemere Coat of Arms, in the Town Hall Chamber.
