About Haslewey Community Centre

Haslewey was specifically designed as a community centre and opened in 2003. It aims to serve all age groups and sections of the community.

The building work was funded by donations from Age Concern Haslemere, charitable trusts and local individuals. Waverley Borough Council made a major contribution and a more modest but nevertheless significant contribution came from Haslemere Town Council. However the current running costs now have to be met by room rental, fundraising, the Friends of Haslewey and any donations.

The Haslewey Community Centre Fundraising Volunteer Team consists of: Vaness Moss and Sharon Mitchell (staff) with June Banahan, Pauline Watts, Judith Cass, William King, Ken Griffiths and Melanie Odell. The proceeds so far from fundraising will go to the refurbishment of our reception area. We will start by replacing the furniture and eventually as funds allow, the flooring.

Haslewey Community Centre runs many daytime and evening activities. During the daytime on weekdays (between the hours of 9am and 3.30pm), Age Concern Haslemere is the principal user of the lounge and dining room, providing a wide range of activities for anyone aged 50 or over. Age Concern Haslemere manages the Harlequin Café which is open to everyone. Families are welcome.

The Haslewey and District Community Centre, which owns and operates Haslewey, is a registered charity and a company limited by guarantee. Legal responsibilty for the running of the Centre rests with its Board of Trustees. Trustees value the input made by the Users Forum which takes place twice a year. All users of the centre, local councillors and general public are eligible to attend and are invited to put forward suggestions or ask questions of the trustees.

Formal details of this charity can be found on the Central Register of Charities maintained by the Charity Commission for England and Wales.
