How was the need to have a Healthcheck in Haslemere identified?

Healthchecks have already been successfully carried out in other parts of the country and have been viewed very positively. The Haslemere Initiative in partnership with the Town Council and with the support of Waverley Borough Council and Surrey County Council felt that the Healthcheck would enable Haslemere to:

Seek ways of improving the economic, social and environmental health of the town
Provide a forum for the discussion and promotion of ideas to enhance the attractiveness of Haslemere as a place to live, to visit and in which to do business
Initiate and develop projects to achieve those objectives in partnership with its constituent bodies

What is a Market Town?

An action plan will be produced as a result of the Healthcheck that will identify short and long-term projects designed to improve the provision of convenient access to the services that Haslemere and the surrounding area depends on – retail and professional services, training and jobs, leisure and cultural opportunities.
