on the 4th June 2012
Haslemere will Picnic and Party to celebrate
the Queen's Diamond Jubilee in style!

To mark this momentous occasion Haslemere will be celebrating in a style fit for a Queen!

Celebrate this once in a lifetime special occasion together with your friends and family and join us on Lion Green where the whole of Haslemere will come together to toast the undoubted success of the Queen’s sixty year reign.

On Monday June 4th Lion Green will become the centre of a giant party, the likes of which Haslemere has never seen. Lion Green will come alive to the sound of people enjoying themselves whilst meeting friends old and new. There will be a wide variety of stalls and entertainment strategically placed around the Green to keep everybody happy and in the party mood.

Children will not be forgotten and there will be a special Children’s Corner where special entertainment and games will be laid on just for them and live music will be played on the bespoke Jubilee Stage, to celebrate each decade of the Queen’s reign. We will also include one or two special eras prior to 1952 such as the war years. This musical extravaganza will start at 12:00 noon and continue until 9:00pm. Headlining the bill will be the Upbeat Beatles, who will surely be able to get us all ‘rocking and rolling’.

At approximately 3:00 pm when the Carnival procession reaches Lion Green, we will see the start of the Jubilee Picnic, which is a modern reflection of the 1952 Coronation 'Street Tea Party'. We would invite you all to bring along blankets and chairs to Lion Green, where you will be served with a cream tea, whilst listening to the live music from the Jubilee Stage. Jubilee hats, poppers and streamers will be handed out, which will again add to the party atmosphere.

We have even requested that the Red Arrows make a flypast during the Jubilee Picnic which will certainly mark the occasion and of course we could not start without everyone joining in on a Haslemere rendition of God Save the Queen.

To support this and all other Jubilee events there will be a small charge of £12 per family or £5 per adult for entrance to Lion Green but we do hope that you will agree that this small charge will be worth every penny.

At 9:00pm the candlelight carnival procession will then form to process from Lion Green to the Jubilee bonfire and fireworks.
