My name is Vijayakumar. I am in my second year at University. The person I admire the most is Colin Uncle with his wonderful ideas and then Navamani Uncle whose task it is to follow these ideas through. One of the things that astonishes me most is how Kings went from Colin Uncle, four children, a foster mother and a motorbike in Chinnammalpuram to the amazing Kings English School in Pudhur that we have today. I am very proud to be one of the Kings family. Maybe one day Chinnammalpuram will be pinpointed on the world map as the village that has grown the most in the world! I love the traditions we uphold at Kings, especially the traditional evening at Christmas with all its songs and dancing – I could go on forever about Kings but will try and brief! In Kings our whole ethos and learning was secular, but I now find that the world at large often thinks very differently. Our population is growing all the time and there is disharmony and terrorism throughout the world. I wish it was as simple as we found it in the Trust for everyone to get on with their neighbour regardless of race, religion or caste. I look back on my life at Kings from when I was a very small boy with the love and care of my foster mother and wonder if the terrorists we have in the world today would have benefited from my loving 'family' approach at Kings, maybe they would have chosen a different path in life. The Trust has its problems with jealous people outside of it, but this has only served to make Kings stronger and more wonderful for its children.

My name is Mathew and I came to live at Kings World Trust when I was six. My mother was the second wife of my father. When my father died, the children of his first wife and my father's family threw my mother and I out of the family home. My mother was very ill and the Trust found a home to care for her. After my GCSEs, I trained as a mechanic and am now working as a plant operator in Chennai for Cognizant Company earning Rs 4,500 [about £50] per month. I work an eight hour day and enjoy it very much. If I had not been to Kings World Trust my life would have been very different and I am eternally grateful to everyone who has nurtured me through these years.
