Safe and Sound - Satie's Story

Satie’s father had an extra-marital affair with another woman and so he often ended up arguing and fighting with his wife about her. One night he phoned his mother in law, who lived 50 miles away, to say that he had killed his wife and burned her body. He then threatened the family by saying if anyone went to the police he would kill them all as well. Fearing the consequences the extended family quietly arranged the funeral and immediately took responsibility for the four little children. Their father disappeared and has never been seen again. Satie’s two older brothers recently stopped schooling because their grand- mother could not afford to educate them. Luckily, she was directed to Kings World Trust for Children by one of her neighbours and the two youngest children are in our residential care homes. Satie and his older sister Satia are very loveable and caring children who, despite their horrifying ordeal, have settled well in the Trust and made a lot of new friends.
