Fifteenth Founder’s Day

The fifteenth anniversary of KWTCI was celebrated on Saturday, 31st July 2010. It was a programme much awaited by all students and staff. The programme started with a warm welcome given by Uncle Colin in Tamil and the Managing Trustee, Mr. Kamay Naicker spoke on the activities successfully carried out by KWTC and congratulated Uncle Colin for everything. Other guests included long time supporters Mr. Peter Nutsford, Ms. Kate Treitman, USA Trustee. The Indian Trustees Mr. Rajendrasingh and Mr. Ravi were also present, along with many other volunteers and visitors. The day was truly special as it marked fifteen years of the Trust successfully helping children through its various programmes. The function was still more special as Uncle Colin’s 64th birthday was celebrated and all wished him a long, healthy, peaceful life.

In the evening we staged cultural spectacles, where the children performed beautiful classical and modern dances. The children also produced a song which celebrated Uncle Colin’s good work for the Trust, and emphasized that Integrity and Perseverance are qualities and values to be cherished both at the school and in later life. Uncle Colin was then treated to a ‘This Is Your Life’ film tribute which summarised all that he has achieved at Kings World Trust. The volunteers also gave a performance that we will be sure to remember! The programme was enjoyed by all, children, staff and guests alike. This year the Best Foster Mother award was given to Mrs. Nirmala for her unstinting devotion to her duties. The Best Child of the Year Award for girls was given to Stella and the boys’ award was given to Jegan. Thirty members of the Alumni Association were also in attendance and thanked Uncle for everything he has contributed to their becoming what they are today.

The celebration came to an end with a vote of thanks given by Mr. J. Navamani, where he thanked Miss. Muthulakhshmi, Mr. Remiguise, Mrs. Jeromi, Mr Vivek and Mr Jesuraj, and also all children and all other supporting staff. The evening was a grand success and a memorable celebration of everything Uncle Colin has achieved here.
