We have officially started the Chinnammalpuram Outreach Centre in January 2010 to host the expanding educational and medical outreach programmes. Previously, we had 57 children under our outreach care. Currently, we have a total of 138 children under the Educational Outreach Programme. In addition, we are continuing our work with the medical disability programmes that serve the community. We have 40 children under the Medical Outreach Programme. Twelve of these attend Physiotheraphy classes on a weekly basis. Three children are HIV infected and one child is suffering from congenital heart disease. In addition, three children attend Kings School and one attends the local government school. The other twenty are bed-ridden at home. We have a well equipped Physiotheraphy hall with newly purchased equipment. USA Trustee Kate Treitman visited the new Outreach Center in Chinnammalpuram on a recent visit to the Trust. “It is great to see the programme has the space and dedication to expand in this important area of need,” she commented.
Mrs Jeromi is the dedicated head of the Outreach Programme. Every month, she meets each child and their family to collect updates on their education and wellbeing. The Trust provides the children with educational materials including school bags, uniforms, school books and stationery items. We also provide money for food and any medical expenses. Once a year, the Trust hosts a camp for all outreach children at Kings. She is supported by Mr Jeyaraj – the Accountant; Mr Lingesh – Physiotherapist; Mrs Sundari – Field Staff and Mr Rajamani, Mrs Grace Selvamani, and Mrs Kaniammal are the supporting staff. |
