Rhododendron Clearance
With the agreement of the Black Down & Hindhead Supporters, warden Matt Bramich has been able to use some ring-fenced funds to secure a Forestry Commission grant to remove rhododendron across Black Down, Valewood and Marley over the coming years. Invasive rhododendron smothers the woodland floor reducing light, woodland wildlife and bio-diversity. It may also encourage the fungus responsible for ‘Sudden Oak Death’.
