Welcome to Grayswood C.of E. Aided Infant School!

Let me tell you more about our school.

Here at Grayswood School we are able to offer something very special for your child's first school. We will try to show you some aspects of life at Grayswood through these web pages. Grayswood is in a lovely setting, central to Grayswood village. We have very strong links with the village community and All Saints Church. Visitors share their skills with the children and our school grounds are a rich learning resource. We have an outside classroom in a wooded area with a secret garden, created by our children all of which the children take pride in and help to look after.

The Governors and staff, aim to maintain high educational standards. We offer a full range of opportunities to all children. We provide a secure, and stimulating environment, where children are motivated and achieve high standards in single age classes.

Our school is warm and friendly with an atmosphere of vitality and enthusiasm for learning. Children can start school at Grayswood when they are four. In the term before they start school, children are invited to visit in preparation for full time entry to the school. Please feel free to contact us for any further information you may require.

Aims of Grayswood School.

At Grayswood we aim to provide a happy, caring, Christian School in which the full potential of each child may be realised, both intellectually and socially.

We teach firm foundations in the essential basic skills of Literacy and Numeracy, Science, RE and Information Technology, and also offer a broad based topic approach incorporating the foundation subjects Design Technology, History, Geography, Art, Music and PE. We aim for all Grayswood pupils to be happy, well behaved, polite, kind and considerate. We develop an understanding of the world and respect for all peoples' religions and moral values, encouraging spiritual growth. We stimulate lively and enquiring minds with a capacity for individual achievement and co-operative learning.

We provide an attractive environment which is well organised and resourced to stimulate all kinds of creativity. We hope our children will be self-motivated, self-disciplined and self- aware when they leave us.

How do we achieve the above?

By making sure our children receive a broad, balanced and culturally rich Curriculum.
By teaching all National Curriculum Subjects at an appropriate level to the children's abilities.
By getting to know the children very well.
By giving our children many first hand experiences.
By working in partnership with our parents, the church and the community.
By assessing children's progress regularly and by giving positive feedback to parents, new teachers and receiving schools.
By using a specialised Early Years Curriculum in our Reception Class.
By having a very good team of teachers and classroom assistants who continually strive for excellence.
