Our Objectives

To offer a child-centred approach which allows children to develop in their own way and at their own pace, engendering confidence and enthusiasm for learning.

What We Offer

- A fully equipped, true Montessori setting
- A warm and understanding educational environment for 2½ to 5 year olds
- The opportunity for children to learn through a range of activities, from simple practical tasks, like doing up buttons, to activities which develop reading, writing and mathematical skills.
- Cookery, music and movement, percussion groups, drama, gardening, art and craft and French.
- A ratio of one Montessori trained teacher to six children at all times. All of our staff are committed, enthusiastic and motivated. We attend regular training courses to ensure that our high standards are maintained.

Parental Involvement

When children first start we recognise that it can be a difficult time for child and parents alike, and if parents choose, they can stay to settle their child in. It is our over-riding objective to ensure that the transition from home to nursery is an easy and happy one.

Whilst regular one-to-one parent conferences are held to discuss children's progress, teachers are always available to discuss specific issues with parents, as and when they arise.

The parents have a group, "Friends of Weyhill Montessori School", which meets regularly with the aims of fund raising, social contact and support.

Regular open events are organised to provide a greater insight into the Montessori teaching materials and approach.

A Commitment to Quality

During a recent OFSTED inspection the Inspector commented that our Nursery "is very well resourced, blending together Montessori principles and practice with those of the government's learning goals".

In addition to the statutory assessment, we have completed a year long self-assessment project co-ordinated by Worcester College of Higher Education.

It is our aim to provide exceptional quality of care and education and because of this the children at our nursery feel at home and therefore able to learn and enjoy their first taste of school life.
