Dr Brian Hinton "Cameron and Tennyson"

Brian Hinton read English at Magdalen College, Oxford, and took a PhD in 20th Century poetry at Birmingham University. A one time President of the Oxford University Poetry Society Dr Hinton is a leading authority on the literary history of the Isle of Wight and of the Tennyson Circle in particular.

A scholarly edition of the photographic album given by Julia Margaret Cameron to Albert Louis Cotton is a forthcoming publication. Brian Hinton has appeared frequently on radio and television and is President of the Farringford Tennyson Society and Honorary Curator of the Julia Margaret Cameron Trust.

His lecture will concentrate on the work of Julia Margaret Cameron, one of the earliest photographers and a friend and neighbour of Tennyson.

The lecture starts at 2.00pm and tickets are £10 each.
